Fall
2008 Hottest Trends
Go
Green!
Green is the new black for Fall 2008, and we're not talking color
here. The fashion industry is taking a long hard look at all things
ecological in their newest accessory collections. This season is
a great time to start reading those hangtags - look for items from
established manufacturers for baubles that are both well made and
earth-friendly. It's not the 60's revisited - today's
sustainable material accessories are more hip than hippie. Try a
wooden handbag - jewelry crafted of recycled metal - legwear made from
organic cotton and you're on your way!
That Being Said...
Okay, now we are talking color.
Green - in all its lush and vibrant shades - is the perfect color for
longer, cooler autumn days. This season, look for small leather goods
(minibags, wristlets, wallets, and belts) in just-right shades of loden,
khaki, and forest green. Brass and gold hardware offer classic
embellishments to new silhouettes, including quilted leather iPod cases and
slimmer wallets without checkbook compartments (who writes checks these
days?)
A Girl's Best
Friend...
is a great pair of shoes. This
season unveils sky high heels, with covered platforms, school-girl maryjanes,
and strappy sandals. Fashion being fickle and extreme, ballet flats
continue to be strong contenders for the hottest footwear trend.
Shooties (are they shoes or are they booties?) are bleeding edge when paired
with patterned tights. Look for black and jewel-tone patents, animal
prints, and burnished metallic leathers.
Ooh la la!
That's right - the beret is back. From 1950's beatniks
to wanna-be artistes, the beret keeps on coming. This season's
incarnation features fun and funky materials - fabulous flannel, chunky
knits, cloud-soft angora and (faux or otherwise) fur. Tilt to the
side, or wear it centered? Only you and your mirror can decide...
Mission Possible
Apparel
gets a secret agent makeover with this trendy look - check out body hugging
knits in futuristic patterns and metallic glimmers. Long, slim tunics
paired with glistening leggings are accessorized with silver belts and bags
- just add huge dark glasses and chunky geometric jewelry to complete your
own Jane Bond style.
